Carlos Taberner has clinched the title of the Challenger Costa Calida Region de Murcia hosted by the Real Murcia Club de Tenis 1919. The 27-year-old Spaniard outlasted No. 2 seed Jesper de Jong from the Netherlands 7-6(3), 4-6, 6-2 in Sunday’s singles final.
Taberner withstood 13 aces, broke his rival’s serve four times and won one point more to secure victory in two hours and 28 minutes.

By winning his eighth career title on the ATP Challenger Tour, his first of the season, the World No. 170 earned €12,980 in prize money as well as 75 ATP Ranking points.
During the ceremony, Taberner expressed his gratitude to the crowd, saying, “You made me feel at home in every match and supported me from the first to the last point.” He also praised the outstanding organization of the Challenger tournament.
Meanwhile, Antonio Saura, President of the Real Murcia Club de Tenis 1919, highlighted that the tournament “met all expectations” and praised the dedication and professionalism of the club’s staff, emphasizing their high level of expertise, responsibility, and commitment.
The sixth edition of the Challenger Costa Calida Region de Murcia offered a total prize pool of €91,250. Murcia, Spain is a vibrant city in southeastern Spain, known for its rich history, stunning architecture, and delicious cuisine. The city boasts landmarks like the Murcia Cathedral, a masterpiece of Baroque architecture, and the Real Casino de Murcia, an elegant 19th-century social club.
