VIENNA, July 7, 2016

The line-up for this year’s Erste Bank Open 500 in Vienna, held from 22 to 30 October has become even more attractive. World number two Andy Murray and local hero Dominic Thiem will be joined by Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Lucas Pouille.

Tournament director Herwig Straka sealed the deal with the two Frenchmen during the second week of the All England Championships in Wimbledon, where both players advanced to the quarterfinals. En route to the stage of the final eight, Pouille had knocked out Juan Martin Del Potro as well as Bernard Tomic amongst others, before he eventually fell to Tomas Berdych. On Monday, the 22-year-old will be ranked on a new career high 21st position.

Tsonga is also looking forward to the €2,467,310 ATP 500 event, taking place in the Stadthalle: “Since claiming the title here in 2011, Vienna has been a special place to me. Therefore I am really looking forward to return. The fans always create a special atmosphere inside the arena and Vienna is a beautiful city, where you have the chance to discover a lot of things off the courts as well.”

Straka is pleased with the players, who commited to his tournament. “Murray is currently playing his best season ever. There are many people, who think that he can win the title in Wimbledon this year. Tsonga has also proved that he is again in good shape. He is very popular in Austria and one the fans’ favourites. Pouille started this season ranked on 78th position and is close the top 20 now. He will be one of the circuit’s stars in the future.”
