The VII Challenger Costa Calida Region de Murcia is reaching its decisive stage, with the first champions already crowned and the singles final now set.

In the doubles draw, Benjamin Hassan and Sebastian Ofner captured the title after defeating the second-seeded pair of Karol Drzewiecki and Piotr Matuszewsk of Poland in a closely contested final, 6-3, 6-4. The Lebanese-Austrian duo delivered a consistent performance throughout the week, steadily raising their level and showcasing high-quality tennis to secure the trophy at the Real Murcia Club de Tenis 1919.

Hassan and Ofner won 59 per cent of the total points played in the championship match to prevail after 58 minutes. They claimed their second team title following their triumph at the Open Menorca last year. Hassan and Ofner split € 4,540 in prize money and collected 75 ATP Doubles Ranking points.

Attention now turns to the singles final, which will take place on Sunday and feature an all-Spanish clash between Pablo Carreno Busta and Roberto Carballes Baena.

Carreno Busta, the third seed, advanced with authority by defeating Belgium’s Kimmer Coppejans 6-2, 6-3. Coppejans had been one of the standout performers of the tournament, but he was unable to match Carreno Busta’s level in the semifinals, as the Spaniard delivered one of his most complete performances of the week.

In the other semifinal, Carballes Baena produced an impressive comeback to overcome top seed Jesper de Jong. The Dutchman claimed the opening set 6-2, but Carballes Baena responded with determination and experience, turning the match around to win the next two sets 6-4, 6-4 and book his place in the final after two hours and 22 minutes.
