ROTTERDAM/STARNBERG, May 29, 2026
Alex de Minaur, champion of the 2026 ABN AMRO Open, will return to Rotterdam Ahoy in February to defend his title. The Australian world No. 7 is the first player officially confirmed for the 2027 edition of the prestigious ATP 500 event.
Tournament director Richard Krajicek expressed his delight at securing the Australian’s return.
“Traditionally, the tournament champion is the first player you approach to return. Especially when he has reached the final three years in a row, as Alex de Minaur has done. With back-to-back runner-up finishes followed by the title, he has shown that he plays some of his best tennis in Rotterdam. We are delighted to welcome him back,” Krajicek said.
The 27-year-old Australian has now captured eleven ATP Tour titles during his career, with his triumph in Rotterdam marking the first indoor title of his career. De Minaur has traditionally enjoyed his greatest success on faster surfaces, with all eleven of his ATP trophies coming on either hard courts or grass courts, including the 2024 Libéma Open title.
“It was no surprise that he won his first indoor title with us,” Krajicek added. “His runner-up finishes in 2024 and 2025 had already proven that he feels at home in Rotterdam Ahoy. And there is certainly no shame in losing those finals to Jannik Sinner two years ago and Carlos Alcaraz last year.”
De Minaur first appeared in Rotterdam in 2021, reaching the second round. In 2022, he advanced to the quarter-finals before losing to Stefanos Tsitsipas, while in 2023, Grigor Dimitrov ended his run in the last eight.
His breakthrough results came in 2024 and 2025. In 2024, wins over Sebastian Korda, David Goffin, Andrey Rublev and Dimitrov carried him into the final, where he fell to Sinner 7-5, 6-4. One year later, victories against Goffin, Jakub Mensik, Daniel Altmaier and Mattia Bellucci once again earned him a place in the championship match, where Alcaraz prevailed 4-6, 6-3, 2-6.
Earlier this year, De Minaur finally captured the long-awaited Rotterdam crown with victories over Arthur Fils, Stan Wawrinka, Botic van de Zandschulp, Ugo Humbert and Félix Auger-Aliassime to secure the title at Rotterdam Ahoy.
