BAD RAPPENAU, June 4, 2026

Diego Dedura delivered one of the standout performances on Thursday at the Neckarcup in Bad Rappenau, defeating Brazil’s Joao Lucas Reis da Silva 7-6, 7-6 to book his place in the quarterfinals.

“I’m simply overjoyed. It was so much fun playing in front of so many spectators,” Dedura said after the match.

The 18-year-old German captivated the crowd with an energetic and fearless display. Showing remarkable composure in the opening-set tiebreak, which he edged 14-12, Dedura mixed powerful baseline strokes with clever variations in spin, pace and shot selection to keep his Brazilian opponent off balance throughout the contest.

The 600 spectators on Center Court also noticed a change in the young German’s appearance. Having competed in Bad Rappenau as a blond last year, Dedura returned with much darker hair.

“That only happened a week ago,” he explained with a smile. “I had blond hair for two years and felt it was time for a change. But I think the blond will come back.”

Dedura’s quarterfinal opponent was determined shortly afterward when top seed Marco Trungelliti overcame Yu Hsiou Hsu of Chinese Taipei in three sets. The 36-year-old Argentine struggled early, producing a series of double faults and falling 6-3 in the opening set. However, once he settled into the match, his level rose significantly. Cutting down the errors and finding greater consistency, Trungelliti stormed back to claim the final two sets 6-1, 6-1.

The final quarterfinal berth was decided in an all-German clash between Max Hans Rehberg and Marvin Moeller. In light drizzle, Moeller held firm to defeat his compatriot 6-3, 6-4.

“It wasn’t easy for either of us, but I handled the conditions well and I’m happy to have won,” Moeller said afterwards.

The world No. 401 will now face Croatia’s Luka Mikrut for a place in the semifinals of the ATP Challenger 100 tournament.
