A traditional stop on the road for future stars of world tennis, the Internazionali Città di Todi | Sidernestor Tennis Cup will once again shine a spotlight on Italy’s emerging talents when the ATP Challenger event returns from 9–16 August at the Tennis Club Todi 1971.

The newly released entry list underlines the tournament’s role as a proving ground for Italian players. Seven of the eight Italians currently ranked inside the Top 100 have previously competed in Todi, and the 2026 edition is set to showcase another wave of promising youngsters looking to make their mark on the Challenger Tour.

Leading the Italian field is Stefano Travaglia, a former world No. 60 and the tournament’s top seed. He is joined by Marco Cecchinato, the 2018 Roland Garros semifinalist and former world No. 16, and local favourite Francesco Passaro, who recently returned to competition after a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a right wrist injury.

Particular attention will be on Jacopo Vasamì, the 19-year-old regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in Italian tennis. The former junior world No. 2 and Trofeo Bonfiglio champion is currently ranked No. 364 in the world and continues to attract growing interest after a series of impressive performances.

Todi will also feature other members of Italy’s new generation. Michele Ribecai (ATP No. 267) arrives after reaching the semifinals in Poznan, Federico Bondioli (No. 288) is coming off a recent Challenger final in Cordenons, and Filippo Romano (No. 300) has already contested a Challenger final in Cherbourg.

The experienced trio of Travaglia, Cecchinato and Passaro will also have genuine title ambitions. Travaglia returns to Todi with confidence after a quarterfinal run at the ATP 250 in Bastad and will be looking to go one step further than last year, when he finished runner-up to Timofey Skatov. Cecchinato, now 33, has already reached Challenger finals in Kigali and Milan this season and remains determined to prove he can still compete at the highest level.

For Passaro, the event carries special significance. The Umbrian, who climbed to a career-high ranking of No. 89 in February 2025, slipped to No. 200 during his injury layoff. A title in front of his home crowd would provide one of the tournament’s most compelling stories.

The international field is equally competitive, with Lukas Neumayer of Austria (ATP No. 172), Argentina’s Federico Agustin Gomez (No. 191), and highly rated Czech teenager Maxim Mrva (No. 303) all set to compete.

Todi mayor Antonino Ruggiano, who has supported the tournament since its inception, described the event as a source of pride for the city and highlighted its importance for both sport and tourism. He also praised the continued development of the Tennis Club and the organizational work of MEF Tennis Events.

MEF Tennis Events president Marcello Marchesini welcomed the return of Sidernestor as title sponsor and emphasized the tournament’s long-standing connection with Italian tennis. “Many of the players who later made Italy fall in love with this sport passed through Todi and our tournaments,” he said. “It is a huge source of satisfaction for us. Alongside established names such as Cecchinato, Travaglia and Passaro, we are excited to welcome a new generation of Italian talents who can try to follow the path of players like Lorenzo Musetti, Luciano Darderi, Lorenzo Sonego, Matteo Arnaldi and Mattia Bellucci.”
