Preparations In Top Gear For 2017 Qatar Exxon Mobil Open

DOHA, November 23, 2016

While the year 2016 on the ATP World Tour finished with the season finale in London last Sunday, preparations have already begun in earnest for the 2017 Qatar Exxon Mobil Open, one of the most prestigious tournaments in professional men’s tennis, which will be held at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha from January 2 to 7, 2017.

The 2017 event marks the 25th anniversary of the ATP World Tour 250 Series which has been held consistently since 1993 and the venue of the tournament has already begun to wear a new look ahead of the six-day tournament.

Star players featuring at the tournament include world No. 1 Andy Murray, the defending champion and world No. 2 Novak Djokovic, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, the 2012 champion and Tomas Berdych among many others; who will be sweating it out for both cup and glory.

In all, there are 25 direct and three wild card entries for the tournament in addition to four qualifiers.

Other players that will be lighting the courts in Doha are Jeremy Chardy, Ivo Karlovic, Fernando Verdasco, Dusting Brown, David Goffin among others.

Qatar Exxon Mobil Open is the first tournament of the season and it gives players the opportunity to get them prepared for the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the year, holding two weeks later in Melbourne, Australia.

There will be 32 players in the main draw while the Doubles will consist in 16 teams.

The Main Draw for the 25th Anniversary edition will start on January 2nd with the final held on January 7th.

The qualifying rounds will take place from December 31, 2016 to January 1, 2017.
