DRUMMONDVILLE, November 30, 2016

After two successful years as a $50,000 event, the Drummondville National Bank Challenger will see its total prize money increase to $75,000 in 2017. The news was announced Wednesday at a launch press conference for the tournament which will be held from March 11-19, 2017 at the René-Verrier indoor tennis club in Drummondville.

“Of course the prize money increase could influence the calibre of the players who will enter the third edition of the Drummondville National Bank Challenger,” said Tournament Director Richard Quirion.

Since its creation, the event has hosted young Canadian rising stars like Félix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov, who both won junior Grand Slams this season at Wimbledon and the U.S. Open. Canadians Frank Dancevic, Philip Bester, Peter Polansky as well as professional players from around the world have also played the tournament in the past.

The tournament continues to grow
Last year, the popularity of the Drummondville National Bank Challenger continued to grow with more than 4,000 people attending the tournament which represents a 10% increase compared to the first edition in 2015. In addition, web streaming of matches attracted more than 140,000 viewers around the world, primarily from the United States, England, Canada, Chile, and Russia.
