MUNICH, March 21, 2017
Gael Monfils will join the line-up at this year’s BMW Open by FWU, held from 1 to 7 May at the venue of the MTTC Iphitos in Munich. The 30-year-old Frenchman had pulled out of the three previous editions and eventually wants to play his first competitive match in Bavaria.
“I had some bad luck in the past here but I am looking forward to event, which was won by some great players like Andy Murray, Philipp Kohlschreiber and Tommy Haas in the past,” told Monfils.
“I always enjoyed spending the time here in Munich but now I also want to compete in the tournament’s main draw,” the World No. 11 added.
“We are very confident that Gael will entertain the crowd with some spectacular tennis action this year. He is a benefit for every tournament and we are really looking forward to seeing him on our courts,” tournament director Patrik Kühnen stated.
Monfils will join the three Germans Alexander Zverev, Philipp Kohlschreiber and Tommy Haas, who had already announced to compete at the ATP 250 event.
