Haas, however, will return to the courts himself and announced that he will compete at this year’s MercedesCup, held from 10 to 18 June in Stuttgart.

“In his last year as professional on the tour, Tommy wants to compete in all of the bigger German tournaments. We will come up with something special at his last appearance at the venue of the TC Weissenhof and hope that a lot of fans will attend the event,” told Edwin Weindorfer, manager of Tommy Haas and tournament director of the €701,975 ATP 250 event.

Haas, who captured 15 titles on the ATP World Tour, will join Roger Federer, who had already announced his participation at the MercedesCup 2017. The 35-year-old Swiss has enjoyed a fantastic season so far by lifting the trophy of the Australian Open in Melbourne and taking the title in the Californian desert last week.

“This comeback after my injury break has been like a dream. It couldn’t have gone any better,” told Federer, who eyes celebrating his first triumph in Stuttgart this year.
