MARBURG, May 30, 2017
The organizers of the Marburg Open announced Monday that Tommy Robredo committed to play at the €43,000 ATP Challenger event held at the venue of the TV 1965 Marburg from 1 to 8 July 2017.
The 35-year-old Spaniard was ranked World No. 5 in August 2006 but struggled with injuries in recent times. Robredo missed half of last year’s season due to an elbow surgery. His best result in 2017 came in Marrakech in April, reaching the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 event.
Defending champion of the Marburg Open is Jan Satral from the Czech Republic, who captured his maiden title on the ATP Challenger Tour. The 26-year-old edged past Marco Trungelliti of Argentina in last year’s final, winning in straight sets.
