The Spaniard Rafael Nadal, who arrived in Montreal on Thursday, will make his debut during the Tuesday afternoon session at Rogers Cup presented by National Bank, while Canadian Milos Raonic will play his first match on Centre Court that evening.
The tournament’s top seed, who could retake the World No. 1 ranking by reaching the Rogers Cup semi-finals, will play his first match on Tuesday afternoon, immediately after the match-up featuring Canadian Denis Shapovalov and Brazilian Rogerio Dutra Silva, which is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. For the occasion, Nadal will face the winner of the match opposing Croatian Borna Coric and a qualifier.
Also in first-round action on Tuesday will be Canadian Milos Raonic, who will face the winner of the match between Russian Daniil Medvedev and Frenchman Adrian Mannarino. Raonic will be looking to capture his first Masters 1000 Series title. He reached the final in Montreal in 2013.
The order of play for Monday was also revealed
The order of play on Centre Court for Monday, August 7 was also unveiled. Beginning at 12:30 p.m., Australian Kick Kyrgios will take on Viktor Troicki of Serbia, which will be followed by the match featuring Frenchman Gaël Monfils and US-American Steve Johnson. In the evening, starting at 6:30 p.m., Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina, silver medalist at the 2016 Rio Olympics, will face US-American John Isner, who recently took home the titles in Newport and Atlanta. The final match of the day on Centre Court will be the all-Canadian between Peter Polansky and Vasek Pospisil. The winner of this match will face Roger Federer in the second round.
