Robredo Joins Seeded Players In Second Round In Como

All the seeded players safely advanced to the second round of the €43,000 Torneo Città di Como – Trofeo “Intensa SanPaolo” on Tuesday. The tournament’s number two Jerzy Janowicz won the all-Polish-encounter with lucky loser Kamil Majchrzak 6-3, 6-4 in one hour and 18 minutes.

The World No. 110 from Lodz will next face Matteo Donati of Italy, who fought past Austrian qualifier Lenny Hampel 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 in exactly two hours of play.

Third favourite Filip Krajinovic cruised past #NextGenATP player Dmitry Popko from Kazakhstan 6-1, 6-1. The 25-year-old from Serbia saved all of the four break points he faced, converting five of his own to advance in only 63 minutes. Next up for Krajinovic will be Mathias Bourgue, who emerged victorious from the all-French-battle with Constant Lestienne 6-4, 6-2.

Fourth seed Pedro Sousa of Portugal and sixth favourite Guillermo Garcia-López from Spain also found their way into the second round.

Tommy Robredo opened his Como campaign with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Germany’s Daniel Masur. The Spanish veteran and former World No. 5 won 76 per cent of his first service points and 63 per cent of the total points played to prevail in one hour and four minutes. Robredo will next take on defending champion as well as tournament’s number eight Kenny de Schepper of France
