Organizers of the Gerry Weber Open in Halle announced Thursday that Dominic Thiem has signed a two-year contract with the ATP 500 grass court event to compete in 2018 and 2019.

“Halle is a remarkable tournament,” stated Thiem, who advanced to the Round of 16 at the US Open. The current World No. 8 from Austria made it to semi-finals in Halle in 2016 and will join fellow Top 10-players Roger Federer and Kei Nishikori next year.

After the successful 2017 birthday tournament and the ninth triumph of record champion Roger Federer, the Swiss maestro begins his mission of the title defence with the 26th edition from 16th to 24th of June, 2018.
