Stefanos Tsitsipas set a quarterfinal clash with top seed Jan-Lennard Struff at the €127,000 AON Open Challenger – Memorial Giorgio Messina. The #NextGenATP player from Greece defeated Aldin Setkic of Bosnia and Herzegovina 6-2, 6-4.
Tsitsipas saved the only break point he faced, converting three of his own to advance in one hour and 15 minutes. Struff fired 15 aces, winning 85 per cent of his first service points to secure a 7-6, 7-6 victory over Uladzimir Ignatik from Belarus. The pair will meet for the first time.
Fourth seed Laslo Djere of Serbia fell to Hungarian Attila Balazs 3-6, 3-6. The World No. 167 from Budapest won 58 per cent of the total points played to advance in one hour and 27 minutes. Balazs will next take on compatriot Marton Fucsovics, who eased past German qualifier Tim Puetz 6-1, 6-2.
Guillermo Garcia-López knocked off Alessandro Giannessi, the tournament’s number three. The Spanish veteran won 6-4, 7-5 in one hour and 51 minutes to play fellow Italian Matteo Donati in the stage of the final eight.
