16-year old Amanda Anisimova and 13-year old Cori ‘CoCo’ Gauff will contest the third-straight all-American Grand Slam girls’ singles final in 2017 at the US Open on Sunday, marking the first time ever that three all-American Grand Slam girls’ finals have been played in the same season.

It also marks the first year since 1981 that both the US Open women’s and girls’ finals have each been contested between two Americans (1981: Tracy Austin d. Martina Navratilova in the women’s final; Zina Garrison d. Kate Gompert in the juniors).

Anisimova, of Aventura, Fla., and Gauff, of nearby Delray Beach, will also ensure that three different American girls will win junior singles titles at Grand Slam tournaments for the first time ever. Whitney Osuigwe, of Bradenton, Fla., defeated Claire Liu, of Thousand Oaks, Calif., in the French Open girls’ final, while Liu beat Ann Li, of Devon, Pa., in the Wimbledon girls’ final.

Gauff, at 13 years, 5 months and 28 days old, is the youngest girl to reach the US Open junior final since the event began in 1974. She would be the third-youngest Grand Slam girls’ champion, after Martina Hingis won the 1993 French Open at 12 and Jennifer Capriati won the 1989 French Open at 13 years, 3 months.
