Hengqin Life WTA Elite Trophy Zhuhai ambassador and tennis legend Stefanie Graf was back on court on Saturday.
First Graf traded groundstrokes with WTA star Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova on a specially-constructed court on top of 330m Zhuhai Center, the tallest building in the southern Chinese city.
The 22-time Grand Slam champion then led a kids’ tennis clinic, giving some lucky local children the chance have a tennis lesson from one of the greatest players of all time.
Graf, who won the “Golden Slam in 1988, has come to China for the final weekend of the WTA Elite Trophy Zhuhai, where Saturday’s singles semi-finals will see Graf’s fellow German Julia Goerges take on Anastaija Sevastova and Ashleigh Barty play CoCo Vandeweghe.
Graf is set to be part of the presentation party on court for Sunday’s singles final. The 48-year-old clinched 118 WTA Tour titles in her career and spent 377 weeks ranked World No. 1 – more than any other player, male or female.
Graf retired from professional tennis in 1999 and has been an ambassador to the WTA Elite Trophy since 2016.
