The 32-man draw of the €64,000 Open de Rennes has been whittled down to the final four. Vasek Pospisil, the highest ranked player left in the ATP Challenger event, defeated Quentin Halys of France 6-1, 6-4 on Friday afternoon.

The World No. 105 from Canada saved both break points he faced, converting three of his own to advance in one hour and four minutes. Pospisil will next face Antoine Hoang. The French qualifier edged past Yannick Maden of Germany 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. The encounter lasted just under two hours of play.

Liam Broady ended the great run of French wild card entry Manuel Guinard, who knocked out former World No. 10 Ernests Gulbis in the second round. The 24-year-old Briton won 78 per cent of his first service points and 55 per cent of the total points played to secure a 6-4, 6-4 victory in one hour and 11 minutes.

Next up for Broady will be Ricardas Berankis. The No. 7 seed from Lithuania fought past Gleb Sakharov of France 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. Berankis sent down six aces and broke serve four times to prevail after two hours and 13 minutes.
