The 32-man draw of the $100,000 CDMX Open has been whittled down to the final four. The youngest player remaining at the Club Deportivo Chapultepec, Daniel Elahi Galán, edged out No. 4 seed Adrián Menéndez-Maceiras of Spain, 7-6, 6-4 on Friday.
The 21-year-old from Colombia sent down seven aces, winning 71 per cent of his first service points to prevail after one hour and 40 minutes.

“I didn’t start so well but eventually found my serve, which gave me confidence,” Elahi Galán told afterwards. “Adrán was playing quite well, very consistent. He is a player with many resources, but I was giving my best and trusting my game, stayed focused and that was the key.”
In his second semi-final of the season, Elahi Galán will take on Juan Ignacio Londero from Argentina, who emerged victorious from the encouter between two qualifiers with Jose Hernandez-Fernandez from the Dominican Republic, 7-5, 6-2. The World No. 314 from Buenos Aires capitalized on four of his eight break point chances to advance to his second straight semi-final in one hour and 14 minutes.
Later in the day, Facundo Arguello of Argentina defeated Germany’s Jan Choinski 7-5, 6-2 to set a semi-final clash with Roberto Quiroz from Colombia. The 26-year-old left-hander outpointed Italian qualifier Alessandro Basso 85-72 to seal victory in one hour and 42 minutes.
