Hanfmann Reaches Second Round At Neckarcup

HEILBRONN, May 14, 2018

The main draw of the €85,000 NECKARCUP got underway on a rain-interrupted Monday headlined by No. 4 seed Yannick Hanfmann taking on #NextGenATP Australian Marc Polmans on Center Court of the Tennis Club Heilbronn am Trappensee.

In the pair’s first meeting, Hanfmann sent down eight aces, winning 79 per cent of his first service points to seal a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 victory in one hour and 40 minutes. The 26-year-old from Germany will next take on either Enrique López-Pérez of Spain or local wild card entry Rudolf Molleker.

Seventh seed Alexey Vatutin of Russia eased past Pedja Krstin from Serbia 6-2, 6-2. The World No. 145 capitalized on six of his 12 break point chances to advance in 64 minutes.

Polish young gun Kamil Majchrzak defeated Mohamed Safwat of Egypt 6-3, 6-4. The 22-year-old won 58 per cent of the total points played to prevail in one hour and 29 minutes.

The match between Mats Moraing and No. 5 seed Jurgen Zopp was suspended due to darkness with the German leading 4-3 in the opening set.

Earlier in the day, Dutchman Igor Sijsling, Bernabé Zapata Miralles of Spain as well as Germany’s Benjamin Hassan and Daniel Masur won their match in the final round of the qualifying to reach the main draw.
