Dimitar Kuzmanov of Bulgaria captured his second consecutive ITF Pro Circuit title in Germany by winning the third edition of the $15,000 Kamen Open held on the clay courts of the VfL Tennis Kamen 1929 e.V.. The No. 2 seed defeated fifth favourite Sekou Bangoura from the United States 6-1, 7-5 in Sunday’s singles final.

Kuzmanov, who lifted the trophy in Kaltenkirchen last week, won 71 per cent of his first serves and capitalized on four of his seven break point chances to prevail after one hour and 42 minutes.

“I am very happy with the progress of the last two weeks, I won both tournaments without dropping a set,” Kuzmanov said. “I did not expect the first set to go so well today. However, I wasn’t that relaxed during the second set anymore, while Sekou made fewer errors.

“Next I will drive home to practice there. After that I will play a few Challengers. I think that I have achieved this level of play.”

The 24-year-old Plovdiv native clinched his 16th Futures crown, his fourth of the season. Kuzmanov earns $2,160 in prize money as well as 18 ATP ranking points.

On Saturday, Marco Neubau of Spain and German teenager Robert Strombachs took the doubles title. The wild card entries fought past Petr Nouza and David Skoch from the Czech Republic 6-4, 3-6, 10-5. The final lasted one hour and 26 minutes.
