Timea Bacsinszky and Henri Laaksonen will lead the entry lists of the next week’s Generali Swiss Champion Trophy. The 14th edition of the tournament will be held from 8 to 16 December 2018 at the Karl Heinz Kipp National Tennis Center in Biel.

Laaksonen is seeking his fourth victory after winning three national titles in a row in the years 2012 to 2014. The 26-year-old from Schaffhausen struggled with injuries this season and consequently dropped to World No. 177 in the ATP-Rankings. “Physically and technically he belongs to the top 100,” head coach Yves Allegro said. “Without any doubt, Laaksonen is the favourite in Biel. If he plays his tennis, he will prevail.”

Bacsinszky on the other hand wants to confirm her good run of form. The 29-year-old former World No. 9 also wants to lift her fourth trophy. Bacsinszky, who had to cope with injuries this year, too, clinched one title later in the season at the $25,000 ITF event in Nantes.
