Hewitt To Visit Memorial Drive In Adelaide Today

Australian Davis Cup captain Lleyton Hewitt will visit Memorial Drive Park in Adelaide today meeting the media ahead of the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Qualifier against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The tie will be played on hard court on 1 – 2 February 2019.

February will be the first time in 15 years since South Australia’s has hosted a Davis Cup tie. The Memorial Drive Tennis club was established in 1914, under the name South Australian Lawn Tennis Club. Over the years many major events have been held on the grass courts including the Davis Cup and Australian Open Championships. From 1974 until 2007 the Adelaide International tournament was played there. Since 2009 the World Tennis Challenge has been played at the Memorial Drive.

The two teams will meet for the first time when they play for one of 12 spots at the revamped Davis Cup finals, and join Croatia, France, United States, Spain and wildcards Argentina and Great Britain, from 18 to 24 November in Madrid, Spain next year.

Hewitt will put Alex de Minaur through his paces in a training session ahead of the Australian summer of tennis.

Two-day tickets for the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Qualifier between Australia and Bosnia and Herzegovina are available via Ticketek. Ticket packages are from $72 for adults, $18 for children and $162 for a family pass.
