ORLANDO, March 13, 2019 (Press Release)
Ohio State remains a unanimous No. 1 selection in the Tennis Channel / USTA College Tennis Men’s Top 25, at least for this week.
The poll reflects results from Monday to Sunday each week. Therefore, Texas A&M’s 4-3 win over top-ranked Ohio State Monday night — albeit while Buckeyes star JJ Wolf was absent, competing in an ATP Challenger event in Drummondville, Quebec — will count toward next week’s rankings.
Notably, the Georgia men returned to the Top 25, thanks in part to a 5-2 victory over LSU in which freshman Trent Bryde (Suwanee, Ga.), formerly a Top 10-ranked junior in the world, clinched victory for the Bulldogs.
California and USC both climbed three spots in the women’s poll. Cal opened its Pac-12 slate with a 5-2 win at Oregon, while the Trojans swept an Arizona road swing with a 6-1 win over Arizona in Tucson and a 4-3 defeat of Arizona State in Tempe, both victories clinched at No. 4 singles, by freshman Danielle Wilson (Newport Beach, Calif.) and sophomore Anna Neffa (Key Biscayne, Fla.), respectively.
Each team’s point total, specified below, is the sum of its ranking points from the USTA’s panel of 14 voters (listed below). Each voter ranked 25 teams from Nos. 1 to 25, with the first-place team receiving 25 points and the last place team receiving one. For control, the highest and lowest outlying ranking for each team on the ballot was removed. First-place votes were not tallied. The maximum points a team can earn is 300.
