Travaglia Triumphs On Home Soil At Francavilla Al Mare

FRANCAVILLA AL MARE, April 29, 2019

Stefano Travaglia is the champion of the €46,600 Internazionali die Tennis d’Abruzzo, held on clay at the Circolo Tennis Francavilla al Mare Sporting Club. The No. 5 seed from Italy fought past the tournament’s No. 3 Oscar Otte of Germany, winning 6-3, 6-7(3), 6-3 in Sunday’s singles final.

Travaglia converted three of his four break point chances and won 55 per cent of the total points played to prevail after two hours and 22 minutes.

The 27-year-old from Ascoli Piceno beat his Italian compatriots Andrea Pellegrino, Giulio Zeppieri, Federico Gaio as well as Norbert Gombos from Slovakia en route to the title match.

By lifting his third ATP Challenger trophy, Travaglia collects €6,190 in prize money as well as 80 ATP-Ranking points.

Earlier in the day, Denys Molchanov from the Ukraine and Igor Zelenay of Slovakia clinched the doubles title. The top seeds defeated the No. 2 seeds Guillermo Duran of Argentina and Spaniard David Vega Hernandez 6-3, 6-2. The encounter lasted 57 minutes.
