Cuevas Captures Open Pays D’Aix Title

Pablo Cuevas is the champion of the Open Pays D’Aix Cepax. The top seed of the €137,560 ATP Challenger clay-court event edged past Frenchman Quentin Halys 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 in Sunday’s singles final.

Cuevas saved 13 of the 17 break points he faced, converting six of his own 13 opportunities to secure victory in two hours and 18 minutes.

By lifting his 14th ATP Challenger career trophy, his second of the season, the 33-year-old from Uruguay takes away from Southern France €18,200 in prize money as well as 125 ATP-Ranking points. Cuevas will return to the top 50 on Monday.

“It was a great week for me and I enjoyed it with my family here,” Cuevas said. “It means a lot to me and I am very happy, as I played a full month of matches. In fact, it feels like that this is the best run in my career. I hope to continue winning.”
