Fifth seed Ryan Harrisson and the tournament’s number two Austin Krajicek will clash in the quarterfinals at the US-$ 50,000 Cary Tennis Championships.
Former world number 43 Ryan Harrisson defeated Takanyi Garanganga on Wednesday afternoon, winning 6-3, 6-4. The 23-year-old US-American won 90% of his first service points and converted two break points to prevail in 62 minutes. Harrisson made it to his first quarterfinals since reaching the stage of the final 16 at the ATP Challenger in Winnetka in July.
Second seed Austin Krajicek advanced through a 7-6, 6-2 victory over Joshua Milton. The 25-year-old from Florida hit seven aces and saved all of the three break points he faced, capitalizing on two of his own to close the match after one hour and 34 minutes.
First favourite Bjorn Fratangelo dismissed fellow US-American Mitchell Krueger, winning 6-3, 6-3. The world number 118 won 72% of his first service points and converted four break points to finish the encounter in one hour and 21 minutes.
Fratangelo will face sixth seed Brydan Klein next, who beat Chase Buchanan7-6, 6-4. The British world number 178 fired ten aces and converted two of his five break points to seal victory in one hour and 42 minutes.
