TIBURON, October 3, 2015
On Friday wild card Mackenzie McDonald goes through to the semifinals at the Wells Fargo Tiburon Challenger due to opponent default, setting up a showdown on Saturday with number-one seed Denis Kudla, who played what was his match of the tournament so far by ousting Blaz Rola in straight sets. “It’s going to be a cracker, with players in great form,” said Tournament Director Brendan Curry.
In the doubles semifinal, Johan Brunstrom of Sweden and Frederik Nielsen of Denmark dispatched American Dennis Novikov and Julio Peralta of Chile in a nail-biter third-set match tiebreak to move into the finals. They will play the winner of Saturday’s match between Americans Mackenzie McDonald and Deiton Baughman and Australians Carsten Ball and Matt Reed in the finals on Sunday
