“This is a very tough time not only for tennis, but for society in general. We know this suspension represents a great loss for our tournaments and our players, but the safety and welfare of players, their entourage, spectators and our tournament event staff are Tennis Canada’s top priority and should be everyone’s priority at this point in time. This was not an easy decision to make, but we believe it is the right one,” stated Michael Downey, President and CEO of Tennis Canada. ”We are in daily contact with the Public Health Agency of Canada and the different tennis organizations within which we operate on this matter and we look forward to our national events resuming once the situation has improved.”
Tennis Canada is closely monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and remains in daily contact with the Public Health Agency of Canada and the different tennis organizations. We will continue to communicate any changes to all stakeholders.
