Since Roger Federer announced his participation for next year’s Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart, taking place from 4 to 12 June 2016, the demand for tickets has been extemely high. As tickets for the quarterfinals as well as for the semi-finals matches have almost sold out, the organizers examine the possibility to increase the seating capacity of the centre court at the TC Weissenhof.
“We are very happy that ticket pre-sales go well. The announcement of Roger Federer’s participation here in the next two years has led to a proper “Tennis-Hype”, not only in Stuttgart but also in the neighbouring countries. We also received a lot of ticket reservations from Switzerland,” told tournament director Edwin Weindorfer.
He also said that the 16 times Grand Slam Champions Bob and Mike Bryan will come to Stuttgart next year. “Like Roger, the Bryan Brothers are favourites of the crowd worldwide. The twins will not only play the doubles competition, but will also compete in an exhibition match on the occasion of the 100th edition of the Weissenhof tournament,” Weindorfer stated. This match is going to take place on Sunday, 5 June in order to kick-off the anniversary celebrations.
Tommy Haas will also return to €675,645 event in Stuttgart. The 37-year-old German considers to play his last season on the ATP World Tour and is looking forward to playing a last time in the capital of Baden-Württemberg. “Changing the surface from clay to grass in 2015 has helped to develop the tournament in a very positive way and Rafael Nadal was a worthy winner of the first editon. I am really glad to hear that Roger will come to Stuttgart next year. With his participation the tournament will receive another uprade,” told Haas, who will play his first match on Tuesday, 7 June.
