Tamara Korpatsch is the champion of the German Ladies‘ Series presented by Porsche. The World No. 111, who replaced Katharina Gerlach in the final tournament, defeated Anna Zaja 7-5, 7-6(2) in Sunday’s final on the clay courts of the Tennispark Versmold.
Korpatsch won 97 per cent of her first-service points and capitalized on six of her 11 break point chances. The 25-year-old from Hamburg won 104 of the 199 total points played.
“It was very difficult today. It was a very competitive final. I knew that Anna would play very aggressively again, that I would have to fight for every ball and not give away a point. I am very happy and satisfied with myself,” Korpatsch was pleased with her performance and earned €8,000 in prize money as well as a voucher for the Porsche Experience Center Hockenheim. Zaja took away €6,000 and a voucher for a stay at the Tannenhof Resort Sport & Spa.
Lisa Ponomar clinched the third place following a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 victory over 16-year-old Nastasja Schunk after more than three hours of play.
