PARMA, October 7, 2020
Top seed Frances Tiafoe headlined Wednesday’s second-round action at the €132,280 Internazionali Di Tennis Emilia Romagna held at the Tennis Club President in Parma. The World No. 67 avenged his loss against Italian teen sensation Lorenzi Musetti from the ATP Challenger in Forli last month.
Tiafoe won 75 per cent of his first-service points and 52 per cent of the total points played to secure a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 victory in one hour and 42 minutes.
“Forli was my first clay-court tournament. I played much better today,” Tiafoe told journalist Matteo Mosciatti after the match. “I only played one bad game in the second set. I served well…I battled hard, so did he. I am happy that I won.”

Tiafoe will next take on Italian qualifier Filippo Baldi, who benefited from the retirement of No. 7 seed Gianluca Mager due to a low back injury leading 4-6, 6-3, 3-1.
In the bottom half of the draw, Laslo Djere booked his place in the quarterfinals thanks to a 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 win over Sumit Nagal from India. The No. 3 seeded Serbian capitalized on eight of his 11 break point chances to prevail after two hours and 45 minutes. Up next for Djere will be Salvatore Caruso. The fifth seed from Italy defeated #NextGenATP Czech Tomas Machac 6-2, 7-5 in one hour and 42 minutes.
