Alexander Zverev of Germany clinched his second Cologne title in as many weeks. The top seed of the bett1HULKS Championship defeated No. 2 seed Diego Schwartzman from Argentina 6-2, 6-1 in Sunday’s singles final.
Zverev, winner of the last week’s bett1HULKS Indoors, was again the dominant player inside the Lanxess Arena. The World No. 7 struck nine aces in the title match and won 83 per cent of his first-service points to prevail after one hour and 11 minutes.

“It’s getting better,” Zverev said of his form during the trophy ceremony. “I think we’re going to be on top of the game very soon. Winning tournaments is always special, in particular here in Germany.”
The 23-year-old German, who won all of his eight matches in Cologne, pocketed €13,320 in prize money as well as 250 ATP Ranking points. Zverev has captured his 13th ATP Tour career trophy.
“Sascha was much better today,” Schwartzman said. “He deserved to win last week here and today he was perfect on court.”
Klaasen/McLachlan complete dream team debut
Earlier in the day, Raven Klaasen from South Africa and Ben McLachlan of Japan clinched the doubles title. In their first tournament as a team, the unseeded duo defeated the No. 3 seed and home favourites Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies 6-2, 6-4. The final lasted one hour and 14 minutes.
“It was a fun match to play. I want to thank my partner Ben. It was our first week together, had a lot of fun out here,” Klaasen said during the trophy ceremony. “We were very fortunate today for things to go our way. We played probably the hottest team on Tour right now in these guys.”
McLachlan added: “It was a pleasure to play with Raven. Today he just came up with the goods. It’s been a lot of fun and I really enjoyed this one.” They earned 250 ATP Doubles Ranking points and split €6,030.
