Cedrik-Marcel Stebe of Germany started his home campaign at the Tennis Challenger Hamburg presented by Tannenhof with a first-round win over Filip Horansky of Slovakia. The World No. 143 saved the only break point he faced and converted three of his own eight break point chances to secure a 6-2, 6-4 victory in one hour and 15 minutes on Tuesday afternoon in Hamburg.
Stebe will next play either compatriot and No. 5 seed Oscar Otte or Marc-Andrea Huesler of Switzerland, who captured his third ATP Challenger title in Ismaning last Sunday.
Qualifier Tobias Kamke also booked his spot in the second round. The German veteran fought past Prajnesh Gunneswaran from India 3-6, 6-4, 6-1. Kamke won 53 per cent of the total points played to prevail after one hour and 53 minutes. Up next for the 34-year-old from Lübeck will be sixth seeded Swiss Henri Laaksonen.

In other action, No. 3 seed Jeffrey John “JJ” Wolf beat German qualifier Matthias Bachinger 6-4, 6-3. The World No. 123 from the United States was in control of the encounter, won 88 per cent of his first-service points and didn’t face a break point to advance in one hour and 11 minutes.
Wolf, who has already lifted two Challenger trophies this season in Noumea, New Caledonia, and on home soil at Columbus, will next play Roman Safiullin. The Russian edged past Italian qualifier Stefano Napolitano 6-2, 6-3 in 69 minutes.
