STARNBERG, December 22, 2020

The year 2020 was a dreadful season for tennis lovers as many events were canceled. Even worse, tennis fans had to say goodbye to some of their best-loved players. Here are the best tennis players who will no longer be available for wagering using the Ladbroke Promo Code following their retirement this year.

Carla Suarez Navarro

The ardent tennis player from Spain left the court. Winning two titles, representing Spain in the highly competitive Fed Cup, and ranking in the top 10 are outstanding achievements in her career. Unfortunately, a few months after announcing her retirement, she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, but she has luckily won her battle against it.

The Bryan Brothers

The two legends made their mark on and off the court. Mike Bryan and Bob Bryan demonstrated incredible skill on the court and promoted the game as a fun and social sport. They grabbed 16 Grand Slam titles and won more than 100 titles. Sadly, they decided to leave the court after tremendous success.

Caroline Wozniacki

The skilled player has won 30 titles in her sports career. She retired after the Australian Open in 2020. In her retirement speech, she stated that she wanted to fulfill things off the court. She had suffered acute arthritis before her retirement. Given her career’s nature, one may assume that the condition also contributed to her putting down the racket.

Steve Darcis

Steve Darcis retired on January 15th, having ranked World No. 38. He secured two ATP Tour titles during his career that lasted for 17 years. Although the two-time ATP Tour champion made remarkable exploits like reaching the third round in two Grand Slams (Roland Garros in 2011 and Australian Open in 2017) and finishing runner-up in Amersfoort 2008, he will be celebrated best for the tremendous performance at 2013 Wimbledon, knocking out Rafael Nadal in the first round.

Maria Sharapova

The five-time Grand Slam champion from Russia retired at 32 years. Although her retirement surprised many, the star came from her ban in 2017 and hadn’t competed at her desired level. She also suffered severe shoulder problems.

Santiago Giraldo

The Colombian tennis player reached a career high ranking of World No. 28. Although he never managed to win an ATP Tour singles title, he carried off some astounding wins. He celebrated 168 tour-level victories, reached ATP finals in 2011 and 2014, and secured 10 ATP Challenger trophies.

Ekaterina Makarova

Ekaterina Makarova communicated her retirement through her Instagram page. The Russian is a four-time Grand Slam champion in doubles competition, having won the 2012 US Open mixed-doubles tournament with Bruno Soares, and the 2013 French Open, the 2014 US Open and 2017 Wimbledon Championships with Elena Vesnina. Makarova also won a gold medal in women’s doubles at the Rio Olympics with Vesnina.

Julia Goerges

Having won seven titles and reached a career high at World No. 9, the skilled player had a successful career. She put down her racket a few weeks to her 32nd birthday.

Conclusion

A good number of tennis jocks will not be getting to court in 2021. This is a fact every tennis lover will have to come to terms with. However, tennis lovers will continue enjoying the sport as more stars come to light.
