Tsitsipas is enjoying the best season of his career so far. The 22-year-old reached his first Grand-Slam final at Roland-Garros in early May, in which he was two sets up before losing to World No. 1 Novak Djokovic in five. Earlier in the year, Tsitsipas captured his maiden ATP Masters 1000 title in his hometown of Monte-Carlo. In the championship match against Rublev, avenged his defeat from the 2020 Hamburg final.
“Stefanos is one of my favorite players. It is just a pleasure to watch him play tennis. His elegance and emotions make him a special tennis professional who can fight for the title in all major tournaments. I also like his pleasant and self-reflective personality off the court,” said tournament director Sandra Reichel.
