Following his maiden triumph on the ATP Challenger Tour on home soil in St. Petersburg in March, Evgenii Tiurnev has captured his second career title. The 24-year-old Russian lifted the trophy of the €31,440 MTA Open held on clay and hosted by the Megasaray Tennis Academy in Antalya, Turkey.
Tiurnev fought past Ukrainian lucky loser Oleg Prihodko 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in Sunday’s singles final. The World No. 320 capitalized on five of his 15 break-point chances to seal victory in two hours and four minutes.
No. 9 seed Tiurnev battled his way to the championship match through the bottom half of the draw with wins over Swiss qualifier Damien Wenger, Romanian wild card entry Alexandru Jecan, Alexander Lazarov of Bulgaria and seventh favourite Nerman Fatic from Bosnia and Herzegovina
The Gatchina native pocketed €4,400 in prize money as well as 50 ATP Ranking points.

Hsu/Krutykh claim doubles title
On Saturday, Yu Hsiou Hsu of Chinese Taipei and Oleksii Krutykh from Ukraine clinched the doubles title. The No. 2 seeds defeated No. 3 seeds Sanjar Fayziev from Uzbekistan and Markos Kalovelonis of Greece 6-1, 7-6(5). The final lasted one hour and 19 minutes.
By claiming their first team title, Hsu and Krutykh split €1,700 in prize money and earned 50 ATP Doubles Ranking points.
