STARNBERG, January 19, 2022 (Guest Post)
If you like to watch a lot of sports then you should consider getting into tennis – the season never ends.
There are 4 major tournaments held every year between January and September. But all around the world, there are smaller tournaments happening nearly every week.
In January we are treated to the Australian Open, which is a hard court tournament. The US Open which is traditionally held at the end of September is also a hard court tournament. The French Open, which is held in late May, is a clay court tournament, and Wimbledon, which is held in late June is a grass court tournament.
If tennis is something you want to get into and enjoy more then you have come to the right place. Today, we are going to share 5 tips with you that will help you to fall in love with the sport.
Tip #1 – Watch With Friends
The best way to get excited about anything is to spend time with people who love it – their passion is infectious.
If you have a few friends or family members who love tennis, why not invite them over for the day to watch some matches. You can listen to them talk about the wonders of tennis and you can learn a lot more about the sport.
As tennis matches tend to last for a few hours, why not invite them over for food and drinks, and watch a few of the matches that are being played that day.
Tip #2 – Bet On A Match Or Tournament Winner
Nothing makes the sport more exciting than when you put your money on the line.
If you make a bet that the World Number 5 is going to win the tournament, then you will be glued to the screen until the final. You will find yourself watching the matches of their possible opponents and supporting the underdogs who knock out your guy’s main competition.

Tennis tournaments normally take place across two weeks with players competing every other day. If you have money on a player to win, those two weeks will fly by.
Tip #3 – Watch With Strawberries And Cream
All four of the main tennis tournaments (also known as the Grand Slam events) have a distinct personality.
The Australian Open takes place in the scorching heat, the fans at the French Open take 3-hour lunch breaks, Wimbledon feels like a country club, and the stadiums at the US Open are full of celebrities.
Why not try to capture some of that atmosphere at home by enjoying a can of Fosters or a bowl of strawberries and cream.
Tip #4 – Watch Matches On the Treadmill
If the concept of having to watch a really long tennis match makes you nervous then why not combine watching the matches with other things you need to do.
You could watch from the treadmill while training for your 10K race. You could watch a match while cleaning your living room. Or while you are working on a craft project.
There are plenty of activities that you can combine with watching tennis so that you feel like you are doing more with your time.
Watching tennis doesn’t have to be your only hobby.
Tip #5 – Pick A Favorite Player And Learn More About Them
We are living in an unprecedented age in tennis. Four of the all-time best male tennis players have been playing on the circuit over the last decade (2 decades in Roger Federer’s case).
Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic are all tied at 20 for most Grand Slam titles won. Serena Williams is one of the most successful tennis players of all time.
There are so many amazing players whose journeys you can invest in and learn more about, the matches are more enjoyable when you are emotionally invested.
BONUS Tip – Take Up Tennis
We couldn’t stop this list at 5 tips, so here is another one – if you really want to get the most out of watching tennis then you should try playing tennis yourself.
When you have a go at the sport for yourself, you will really find an appreciation for how talented the players on TV are. You will also be able to understand a little bit more of the rules and the tactics behind the game.
Plus, tennis is a really fun game to play – especially when you take part in a doubles match.
There are many different ways to enjoy tennis, you can choose a favorite player, enjoy it with traditional beverages, and even watch it while you work out.
