ROTTERDAM/STARNBERG, December 10, 2022
The winner of the 2021 ABN AMRO Open, Andrey Rublev, will make his fifth appearance in Rotterdam next year. The 50th anniversary edition of the ATP 500 tournament in the Netherlands will be held from 11 to 19 February 2023.
Tournament director Richard Krajicek stated in a press release: “Andrey Rublev perhaps won the most bizarre edition in the 50-year history of the tournament. After all, in 2021 we were not allowed to welcome a crowd at all, so he won the title in almost total silence. I think, like me, he is looking forward to doing it again in a full Rotterdam Ahoy Arena.”

In addition to winning the title in Rotterdam last year, Rublev also reached the quarterfinals in 2018 as well as in 2020, and made it to the stage of the final four in this year’s edition, where he lost to eventual champion Felix Auger-Aliassime. The World No. 8 is the fourth Top 10 player added to the 2023 line-up, joining Stefanos Tsitsipas, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Daniil Medvedev.
“The field is taking shape more and more. We expect to get several more commitments in the coming weeks. It’s nice to see that the winners of the last two years are coming back,” said Krajicek.
