Thiago Seyboth Wild captured the title of the second edition of the Challenger AAT Legión Sudamericana hosted by the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club in Argentina. The No. 8 seed of the $40,000 clay-court event defeated third-seeded Italian Luca Darderi 6-3, 6-3 in Sunday’s singles final.

Seyboth Wild battled his way to the championship match through the bottom half of the draw with wins over Benjamin Hassan of Lebanon, Murkel Dellien from Bolivia, as well as home favorites Hernan Casanova and Mariano Navone. The 23-year-old Brazilian sent down five aces and broke Darderi’s serve four times to prevail after one hour and 17 minutes.

“I was able to improve my level of tennis every day throughout the week,” said Seyboth Wild, who enjoys playing in Argentina and has a lot of friends in the country. “I really like the food – the Asado,” he added with a smile.

By winning his third ATP Challenger career title, his second of the season following his triumph in Vina del Mar, Chile in March, Seyboth Wild pocketed $5,500 in prize money as well as 50 ATP Ranking points. The World No. 226 will next have a week of practice before competing in the Challengers in Europe in order to get ready for the second Grand-Slam tournament of the season at Roland Garros.
