BORDEAUX/STARNBERG, May 20, 2023
Ugo Humbert continued his excellent run of form by winning his second ATP Challenger Tour 175 title within less than 15 days. Following his triumph at the Sardegna Open in Cagliari, Italy earlier this month, the 24-year-old Frenchman lifted the trophy on home soil at the 14th edition of the BNP Paribas Primrose in Bordeaux.
In front of packed stands on Center Court at the Villa Primrose Bordeaux, fifth-seeded Humbert defeated No. 7 seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry from Argentina 7-6(3), 6-4 in Saturday’s singles final. The World No. 50 played aggressively from the baseline, using his forehand to dictate the rallies and capitalized on two of his five break-point opportunities. Humbert won 53 per cent of the total points played to prevail after one hour and 55 minutes.
