Adam Pavlasek is the winner of the €42,500 Sparta Prague Open, winning Saturday’s final against Stephane Robert 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
The 21-year-old Czech fired seven aces, winning 62% of his first service points. In the pair’s first tour meeting, Pavlasek lost his serve four times but capitalized on five of his 12 own break point chances to seal victory in one hour and 50 minutes.
“Winning a title is always great, but to do it on home soil is even greater,” Pavlasek told after lifting his second trophy on the ATP Challenger Tour. En-route to the titel, the youngster knocked out fellow countryman and tournament top-seed Lukas Rosol. He takes away €6,150 in prize money as well as 90 ATP ranking points.
“I hope that I can keep up my level of play in order to proceed step by step.”
Last month, Pavlasek appeared in his first Grand Slam main draw at Roland Garros, beating Roberto Carballés-Baena in the opening round. He will continue his journey on the ATP Challenger Tour, defending his title at the €42,500 event at Poprad Tatry next. He will take on Andrej Golubev in the opening round.
