PORTOROZ/STARNBERG, May 25, 2026
Two ITF World Tennis Tour tournaments were held in Slovenia last week, with the women competing at the GRAWE Portoroz Open, the second WTT event of the season in Portoroz. The tournament, featuring a prize money purse of $40,000, was won by Czech player Julie Struplova, who captured the title with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Malta’s Francesca Curmi in the final.
Six Slovenian players competed in the main draw, with experienced Dalila Jakupovic producing the best result among the home players. After recording two victories, Jakupovic reached the quarterfinals, where she was defeated by eventual finalist Curmi, who prevailed 6-4, 6-4.
Tournament director Lara Jerse expressed her satisfaction with another successful edition of the event and highlighted the growing reputation of Portoroz as a destination for international women’s tennis.
“After the conclusion of this year’s GRAWE Portoroz Open, we can once again say with great satisfaction that we successfully organized another important international sporting event together. We are pleased that Portoroz continues to strengthen its position year after year as a venue for top-level women’s tennis, and that players consistently recognize the quality conditions, excellent organization, and pleasant environment for competition,” Jerse said.
“The tournament once again delivered a lot of excellent tennis, exciting matches, and strong international competition, while also providing an important opportunity for Slovenian players to compete at home and gain valuable experience at a high level. We are especially happy that the weather was on our side this time, as the sunny days created excellent playing conditions and a wonderful atmosphere throughout the week.”
Jerse also emphasized the importance of local support and thanked everyone involved in organizing the tournament.
“For future editions, we naturally hope the tournament will attract even more spectators and tennis fans, whose presence would provide additional support for the players and the event in Portoroz. On this occasion, I would like to thank Tennis Slovenia, the Municipality of Piran, all sponsors, the organizing team, and the ball kids, whose efforts made the successful staging of the tournament possible,” she added.
