The win2day Open Austrian National Tennis Championships concluded on Sunday at Sporthotel Kurz in Oberpullendorf with a series of high-quality finals that crowned worthy champions across the singles and wheelchair events.

The standout performance came in the men’s singles, where Lukas Neumayer claimed his fourth Austrian national title at just 23 years of age. The Salzburg native added the 2026 championship to the crowns he previously won in 2022, 2023 and 2025, further cementing his status as one of Austria’s leading players.

In the women’s singles, Ekaterina Perelygina lived up to her billing as the tournament favourite. The 19-year-old, who is part of the Austrian Tennis Federation’s player support programme, produced an outstanding debut at the national championships by lifting the title at her very first appearance.

The wheelchair tennis championships also delivered memorable moments. In the highly anticipated men’s final, 18-year-old Maximilian Taucher secured his maiden Austrian national title with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over eight-time champion Nico Langmann, underlining his potential as one of the country’s brightest young prospects.

In the women’s wheelchair event, Christina Pesendorfer sealed her fourth consecutive national title—and fifth overall—with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 victory over Astrid Strobl in the final round-robin match. All remaining championship decisions had already been completed on Saturday.

The tournament was widely regarded as another successful edition by both organizer and Burgenland Tennis Federation president Günter Kurz and the Austrian Tennis Federation (ÖTV). The federation also highlighted the success of its development programme, with women’s singles champion Perelygina and doubles champions Claudia Gasparovic and Leonie Rabl all training at the ÖTV National Training Centre in Südstadt. Men’s champion Neumayer was coached throughout the tournament by ÖTV Sporting Director and Davis Cup captain Jürgen Melzer.
