Matej Dodig has captured the title of the 2026 Como Lake Challenger. The 21-year-old Croatian defeated Juan Pablo Varillas of Peru 6-3, 7-6(5) in Sunday’s singles final.
Dodig fired 10 aces and won 85 per cent of his first-service points. The world No. 254 broke his rival one time to prevail after one hour and 32 minutes.

Following his maiden triumph in Trieste, Italy last year, Dodig lifted his second ATP Challenger career trophy. He pocketed €15,510 in prize money as well as 75 ATP Ranking points.
“I started the year not so well,” Dodig told Tennis TourTalk during the Neckarcup in Bad Rappenau, Germany in June. “I had a few first-round losses, but then I started playing really well. I finished the indoor season with a great result, reaching the semi-finals in Switzerland, and then I made the quarterfinals in Split. I’m really happy with my comeback. I’m back competing after a tough injury, so I’m very, very happy.”
On his playing style, he added: “I would say I’m an aggressive baseliner. I’m trying to improve my serve as much as possible. Also the return – I think those are the most important shots. I’m trying to improve every day and working hard on all aspects of my game.”
On his goals for the rest of the season, Dodig said: “I’m just trying to enjoy every match, stay mentally fresh and stay injury-free. I’m not thinking too much about the ranking, but I would like to be inside the Top 100 for next year. That’s not the priority, though. I just want to stay healthy and enjoy my tennis.”
The 20th edition of the Como Lake Challenger was hosted by Tennis Como.
