COSTA DO SAUIPE/STARNBERG, October 23, 2026
One of the leading representatives of Brazil’s new generation of tennis players, Gustavo Heide has been confirmed for the second edition of the Costa do Sauipe Open, an ATP Challenger 125 tournament scheduled to take place from November 1 to 8 at the Costa do Sauipe Resorts in Bahia. The 24-year-old Brazilian arrives at the event in a particularly positive moment of his career, having recently achieved a new career-high position in the ATP singles rankings.
Heide has continued to establish himself on the professional circuit, climbing to world No. 114 in October following an impressive run at the Curitiba International Tennis Championship. The Brazilian reached the final of the ATP Challenger 75 event before eventually falling to Argentina’s Guido Ivan Justo.
His progress in the rankings reflects an outstanding season. Heide has claimed two of his four career ATP Challenger titles in 2026, triumphing in Campinas (Challenger 75) and Poznan (Challenger 100). Competing on home soil at the Costa do Sauipe Open will provide him with another opportunity to showcase his tennis in front of the Brazilian crowd, in a field featuring three top-100 players alongside several prominent names from Brazil and the international circuit.
“My goal for the remainder of the season is to secure a ranking that allows me to enter the Australian Open,” Heide said.
The entry list also includes the reigning tournament champion and several highly ranked players, among them Argentinians Andres Roman Burruchaga (world No. 62), Facundo Diaz Acosta (No. 69) and Camilo Carabelli (No. 77), as well as Portugal’s Henrique Rocha.
Offering total prize money of US$225,000, the Costa do Sauipe Open awards 125 ATP Ranking points to the champion. It is the only ATP Challenger 125 tournament held in Brazil and the country’s second-largest men’s tennis event, behind only the Rio Open, an ATP 500 competition.
The second edition of the tournament will run from November 1 to 8 at Costa do Sauipe Resorts, combining high-level professional tennis with a programme designed to enhance the spectator experience at one of the best-known tourist destinations along Bahia’s coastline.
