Marco Cecchinato captured the title of the €64,000 Roma Garden Open, winning Saturday’s final against Jozef Kovalik from Slovakia 6-4, 6-4.
The 24-year-old Italian won 75 per cent of his second service points and broke serve four times to secure victory in one hour and 22 minutes. By winning his fourth ATP Challenger career trophy, Cecchinato takes away €9,200 in prize money as well as 90 ATP Ranking points. It is Cecchinato’s sixth title in row he clinches on home soil.
The all-German-combination of Andreas Mies and Oscar Otte emerged victorious from Friday’s doubles final beating Kimmer Coppejans from Belgium and Marton Fucsovics of Hungary 4-6, 7-6, 10-8. The encounter lasted one hour and 49 minutes.
