The Sanchez-Casal Tennis Academy (ASC) will be hosting The Casper Tour December 6-8, 2018. Pro tennis player Feliciano López and Emilio Sanchez Vicario announce The Casper Tour in honor of his great young friend and alumni, Casper Fernandez, who passed away July 2017. The Casper Tour is recognized by the ATP, and includes the program ATP ACES FOR CHARITY in 2018.
Who was Casper Fernandez? He was a young, energetic, funny,and just overly passionate tennis player. He was young player who earned the love and respect from everyone at the Sanchez-Casal Tennis Academy. Casper Fernandez passed away last year after a long fight with cancer, it was his desire to inspire other children to play tennis. He as a boy with a soft smile that had the power to make anyone smile, even in their worst moments.
“Casper was an example of spirit of fight, resiliency and improvement for all his companions and friends,” stated Emilio Sánchez Vicario as he reflected in a ceremony for Casper which included emotional speeches from Casper’s friends and Academy staff. The ceremony culminated with presentation of a plaque with Casper’s name, which is placed at ASC-Florida headquarters.
The Emilio Sánchez Vicario Foundation, a foundation that supports students with diverse abilities through sport, has founded The Casper Tour to raise funds and dedicate them to two projects for kids that went through bone cancer creating one or more tennis schools for students coming out from the illness, as well as allocate part of the money raised for athletic scholarships and thus give opportunities in tennis and life to young tennis players.
The Casper Tour Circuit arrives in Europe, with the third test at the Sánchez-Casal Academy, Barcelona from June 21 to 24 after the success of the event in China (ASC Nanjing) and in the United States (Long Island, New York).
