The top four qualifiers have completed the main draw of the Hungarian Open. No. 1 seed Miomir Kecmanovic of Serbia came back from a break down in the first set to overcome Sergiy Stakhovksy from the Ukraine 6-4, 6-4 on a sunny Sunday afternoon in Budapest.
The 18-year-old broke serve four times, winning 56 per cent of the total points played to prevail after one hour and 20 minutes. Kecmanovic will take on No. 6 seeded Australian John Millman, who finished runner-up to Marco Cecchinato last year.
Lloyd Harris from South Africa edged past Matthias Bachinger from Germany 7-5, 6-4. The 22-year-old South African saved four of the five break points he faced, converting three of his own eight chances to seal victory in one hour and 37 minutes. Up next for Harris will be Peter Gojowczyk of Germany.
Filip Krajinovic defeated Egor Gerasimov from Belarus 7-6(2), 6-1. The World No. 104 from Serbia will face Italy’s Andreas Seppi in the first round of the ATP 250 clay-court event.
Yannick Maden denied Jannik Sinner‘s first main draw appearance on the ATP Tour. The 17-year-old Italian wild card entry, who benefited from the retirement of Lukas Rosol in the first round, lost 6-3, 6-4. Maden finished the encounter after one hour and 35 minutes. Maden will play Pablo Cuevas from Uruguay. Main draw action will start on Monday 11 am local time.
