The top two seeds booked their spot in the quarterfinals of the Oracle Challenger Series in New Haven. The tournament’s No. 1 Andreas Seppi fought past Peter Polansky from Canada 6-7(7), 6-1, 6-3 on Thursday afternoon at the Yale Tennis Center.
Seppi struck 14 aces and won 79 per cent of his first-service points to prevail after two hours and 27 minutes. The World No. 77 from Italy will next tak on US-American Noah Rubin, who dispatched No. 7 seeded Swiss Henri Laaksonen 6-2, 6-2 in just under an hour.

Brayden Schnur, No. 2 seed at the $125,000 ATP Challenger hard-court event, also had to overcome a slow start to defeat Darian King of Barbados. The 24-year-old from Canada outpointed his opponent 92-87 to secure a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory in two hours and 11 minutes. Schnurr will next play No. 9 seed Marcos Giron from the United States, who registered a comeback win over No. 8 seed Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan 2-6, 7-6(1), 6-3.

No. 4 seed and Oracle Challenger Series Houston Champion Bradley Klahn finished up his second round match against Ulises Blanch first thing this morning after the action was suspended due to darkness last night, and then followed that up with a tough, three-set tiebreak victory over Christopher Eubanks later in the day to advance to the quarterfinals.
Friday’s play will feature the single’s quarterfinals, as well as the doubles semifinals.
